“CHRISTIAN POWER & LONESOME TRAIN” LAUNCH NEW CD “COOL HAND” AT TAMWORTH!

Tamworth Country Music Festival was the launch pad for "Christian Power and Lonesome Train's" new album release "Cool Hand", containing 12 tracks of the ultimate blend of Aussie rock, blues, country, honky tonk & rockabilly tunes. A fitting location for the launch, this was the band’s 7th consecutive year as crowd favourites at the festival, and this year was a ripper. Live radio performances on 2TM (Tamworths main commercial station) & 101.5FM as well as shopping centre appearances and many great live shows, guaranteed a successful christening of their new album.

Featuring songs such as "Whole Lotta Rock'n'roll", which has become “Lonesome Train's” air punching anthem, and the title track, "Cool Hand", this album is a great addition to any fan's collection of roots based music.

Christian Power has had a guitar strapped to him since he was ten years old, and is now proudly endorsed by Fender & Gretsch, making regular appearances at Fender showcases alongside well respected artists such as Troy Cassar Daly, Mal Eastick, Ray Beadle, Shane Pacey, Louie Shelton, Stuie French and Michel Rose amongst others.

Christian hooked up with Rock ’n Roll “Hall of Famer”, Doug DeKroo, to form “Lonesome Train” over 7 years ago, focusing on his love of early 50's rockabilly music.  This Power-packed, all singing, all rocking trio, consisting of driving stand up drums (Rob Laurie), slapping double bass (Doug DeKroo) and the wind-milling arm of geetar man Christian Power, have become festival favourites all around the country… their live shows are a “must see event” for every attendee.

Another notch on “Lonesome Train’s” belt include being the chosen backing band for both the "The Willie Nelson Show" and "The Johnny Cash Show" (featuring Bosco Bosanac from the Atlantics), regularly touring nationally to sold out theatres, casinos and entertainment centres.

Christian Power started his professional guitar playing career in Sydney 80’s alternative rock band, Clayton Jonestown (featuring ex members of Nick Cave & Bad Seeds), he went on to join the Whippersnappers, Tsunami & The Swordsmen during the 90’s. Christian has worked as a sideman on many tours and recordings including most recently being the stadium guitarist for John Williamson’s ‘The Story of True Blue’ spectacular.

The new CD will be available at all shows, online, and in record stores soon.

Band Biography

Those honky tonkin, dog house slappin', guitar twangin', rockabilly playboys…. Lonesome Train

…were formed in 2002 and play a fantastic mix of barrel house boogie, honky tonk, jumpin’ swing beat and good old rock’n’roll that has audiences dancin’, yellin’ and hollerin’ for more.

Lonesome Train has been rebooked into every pub, club, venue and event they have visited which is testament to their infectious sound and energy – you can’t help but have a good time when the Train pulls into your place.

Several visits to Queensland, Tamworth, Newcastle and Wollongong on the festival circuit, playing to tens of thousands as the house band for the Royal Easter Show, live radio shows on 2BLUFM, 2RRR 2TM & 101.5FM, Homebush Superdome for the Hot Rod Expos, partying with the ski set at Perisher & Jindabyne and getting French in New Caledonia are some of the highlights for the Train which has steamed into over 150 venues over the past year. Lonesome Train are also the backing band for the Johnny Cash/Willie Nelson Show which sees the boys performing in large venues throughout the country

Three c.d.’s are available. Their debut, self titled EP has sold well over 5000 copies and enjoys regular rotation on radio programs all over the country as well as being spun by many live D.J.’s. The Trains second c.d., ‘Live and Rockin’ is a favourite for many of their fans. A new full length album ‘Cool Hand’ is out now.

Lonesome Train work as a three piece consisting of lead man, Fender endorsee and funny guy, Christian Power on guitars, Aussie rock’n’roll legend Dougie Dekroo on the upright slap bass, and bangin’ the skins, stand-up style is Rob Laurie. All provide main and harmony vocals and terrible gags.
