Jessemae was formed in 2006, as a get up and groove dance band, and to celebrate the musical history of Jessie Mae Robinson - read more... An African American songwriter of the 1940's & 50's, Jessie Mae's timeless songs are still being covered today. As for us in Jessemae, we play timeless music for anybody wanting to have a party.

With a wealth of diverse musical talents and experience in the Australian music industry, Jessemae is a fun, high energy group that can also expand into a slick ten piece band. Even as a three piece, the sound is full and lively.

We cover popular songs of the past fifty years, playing a selection of Jessie Mae Robinson's songs and other dance numbers. Our music can best be described as a blend of groove/blues with rockin overtones, but we know how to play mellow and smooth too.

Based in the Illawarra, Jessemae are versatile and flexible, having played in pubs and clubs, birthdays and fundraisers, at weddings, cabarets, and expo's and other corporate events, they are a booty shakin, good time band.
